Dear Parents, Welcome to the week of January 29th. I hope you had a great week. We finished up with Winter Diagnostics and we should be on a regular schedule, for a few weeks at least. We had a productive week considering our schedule was so inconsistent. We’ve been working on set design. I gave each class a show to work on. They had to pick out a scene and design the set for it. They also read some of Chapter 19 which is the chapter that is all about set design. We will be returning to that chapter in the future. They students will be having a test on Chapter 11 on Monday so hopefully they’ve been going over the summaries that they wrote in class/ We go backwards to Chapter 10 this upcoming week which still features characterizations…analysis and development. Mr. Benson, our elementary music teacher, was kind enough to give me a keyboard so I have begun “warming” the students vocal chords up. We do several exercises with the keyboard as well as physical warm-ups to get them prepared for the day’s work. I want to thank the parents who have consented to letting their children stay a few days a week until 4:00. We are rehearsing for the school-wide Showcase on February 11th. These students will be performing “Hard Knock Life” from “Annie” and “Belle” from “Beauty and the Beast”. I’ve already taught them the beginning of the music and some stage movement as well. They will be very confident when it’s time for the drama department to do their showcase in March. I think we all had a lot of fun yesterday. I’m there until 4:00 every day and I can work with them anytime during that time. The rehearsals are scheduled on Thursday and Fridays and I think by the 10th of February, they’ll be ready to go. Have a great week. For those students who are rehearsing for the Showcase, I promised them I would include the lyrics to their songs on Weebly this week. They follow the reminders.
