Week of March 19th
Good afternoon to all!
Well, it’s FINALLY here….spring break. This is the time to re-group, refresh, and just relax for a week before we get into a heavy testing season. The students have all been working hard and they deserve this break….not to mention the teachers.
Last week we concentrated on the old time comedy routines that some of us may remember…I showed videos of “laurel and Hardy’, “Abbott and Costello” (Who’s on first etc, remember that one,)? I also showed “I Love Lucy”, and a few others. I did show them a couple of “The Three Stooges” videos…BUT, they all did promise not to do anything that they witnessed in those videos.
When we return we will continue with the comedy segment of this year’s curriculum. During the week they were to “fracture” a fairytale. I gave the students some examples to work on. I literally can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with.
Over the break they have a small assignment. They are to come up with a dramatic scenario and we, as a class together, will write a short script that the students will cast and perform in. And, by the end of the comedy segment, the students will be writing and performing their own stand-up comedy routine. Now that should be very interesting.
I hope you have a great time with your kids if you are lucky enough to be off this week as well. Be safe, have fun, and be thankful for your precious children
