Week of May 28th
Dear All,
This is my final posting for this school year. What can I say? It’s bitter sweet. So many of my students are leaving for high school. I’m going to miss them very much. I had the pleasure of having such nice 8th graders. We had fun, shared stories, milestones, sad tears, happy tears, and tears for no reason other than they had 2nd lunch on a given day. I used to find it amusing that even as young teens, most of them still touted the glory of SpongeBob! In a way I hope a little of their innocence remains with them.
Last week we spent a lot of our time seeing musical movies. In all actuality, the movies were taken straight from Broadway. We are completing our work on musicals as a discipline in the theater. Next year we will be working on costume design, make-up, hair, sound, lighting, and how to be a stage manager. I will also be doing a musical theater club that will culminate in a full-blown performance. For that I will be renting a theater so that the students can perform on a real stage. Lots of exciting things to look forward to.
I want to wish all of you a safe and happy summer. It goes by all too quickly unfortunately. It is a great time to bond with the entire family. I look forward to hearing about all the great things the students did on their vacation.
Be well,
Joanne Shultz
