Good Saturday, Parents,
I hope this past week was a great one for you.
In class this week, as most of you are aware, we applied our "mime" make-up! I think it's safe to say that the students all had a really good time. The students who did not get the opportunity to use the make-up were very helpful putting it on their fellow classmates. Even they had a ball. I even found some very artistic make-up artists in the mix. Ones, you might be surprised to know about. I’m not telling….
With it being such a short week, I focused on theater vocabulary. We went over the previous 4 chapters and had a test on 20 vocab words. As always, if the student received under a 65% they are to bring it home to you for a signature. If I do not get the signed test returned to me on Monday, I will send an email to alert the parent of the grade.
This coming week we will begin with a Chapter 4 test and then we go on to Improvisation. We’ve already done several skits however this unit really delves into the art much more thoroughly. I’m sure there will be lots of laughing going on in my class. Improv is a very important skill to master for many reasons. It teaches the actor to “think on their feet”. In live performances this comes in very handy if anything goes awry while on stage. A good actor MUST know how to keep the flow of the script going and cover up any faux pas!
Below you will seem some random shots that I took this week of the process of putting on the mime make-up and the results. It's in the form of a slide show so give it a few moments to morph. See if you can recognize your child…you may have to look REALLY close!
Have a great upcoming week,
