WEEK OF APRIL 16TH
Good Saturday,
I hope your week was productive!
Last week the class took their Chapter 13 exam as well as their Unit 3 exam that encompassed Chapters 10-13. We reviewed during the week and the students also reviewed the day of the unit test.
This coming week, as well as the next 3 weeks the FSAs will take precedent over everything else. That is why I gave both tests within a few days of one another. I don’t want the students to stress out over a drama test when the FSAs are so very important.
I also introduced them to “Phantom of the Opera”, the movie. Naturally I was only able to show a small portion of it because of time constraints, but they will finish it later this week. They were ALL upset when the bell rang for them to go to their next class. Obviously, they really enjoyed. It. I’ve also purchased several older musicals to show and they are G rated. I do have some I would like to show that are PG13 that will require a permission slip with your signature. You can opt out if you choose and I will send those students to art. I am awaiting final approval, which is based on curriculum standards in Palm Beach County. Once I get that I will send home the permission slips. The movies that I want to show as part of the history of Musical Theatre is on there as well. They are quite popular and I’m sure that you have probably seen or at least heard of them. (RENT IS NOT ON THE LIST! Although about 90% of my students requested it. I told them that if they want to see it, do it at home with their parent’s permission at that time.
I am also reminding my period 3 students who won the “Mrs. Shultz’s Day Off” contest to be at school for breakfast with me at 7:45 on Monday, April 16th. Many of those students will be taking the FSA on that day and they will have bagels and donuts to fill up their tummies and have plenty of fuel for the stamina required for the test. Otherwise, please make sure your child has a good breakfast to start their day off. It DOES make a difference!
I hope you have a great week. Remember to make sure your child gets a good night’s rest before the exams. That makes a big difference as well.
