Week of April 2nd
Welcome Parents & Students,
I hope you had a great Spring Break. Lots of relaxing or maybe visiting fun places.
It’s hard to believe that we’re already in our 4th quarter. Time surely has flown by quickly. Now that the students are at the finish line….almost, they get so very excited for new adventures. Especially our departing 8th graders. However, this is also the time that the FSAs KICK IN! The students should be as well-rested as much as possible. I do give snack time breaks at 10:00 every day. Please send something nutritious in for your children. It gives them the fuel to do well during these standardized tests.
As far as the drama department goes, well we’re having a real good time laughing. I know, it’s hard work but somebody has to do it. We’ve working on comedies. This past week we started working on a dramatic one-act scene that will be done with the entire class. We voted on characters, topics, and how the scripts will flow. In fact, the students have homework due this Monday, April 2nd to finish the middle and concluding portion of the script. All of these submissions are voted on to be fair to all of the students. This will get them ready to work on their stand-up routine. We watched several “old time” videos. I wasn’t sure, but yes, the kids all laughed at the old stuff.
We’re also going to be working this coming week on our showcase pieces. I’ve brought in several costumes but I am still missing some pieces. If your child is in my 5th period and they are flowers, I told them that Walmart sells green t-shirts for $3.33. They all said they will bring them in. Please do this as soon as possible so that we can embellish them.
I am still open to collecting permission slips and checks for our movie day scheduled for May 17th. We are seeing “The Greatest Showman”. We had to change the date because of a scheduling conflict with the FSAs. It’s a great way to have the kids wind down from all of the testing. The price is $15.00 and if they want a snack, it’s an additional $5.00. I would need this ASAP so that I can give it to our business manager to make the proper arrangements.
I hope you all have a Happy Easter and a Happy Passover.
